Breaking Bad

Probably the most popular and widely promoted TV show of all time. A high school chemistry teacher diagnosed with late-stage lung cancer teams up with a former student to cook and deal premium blue meth. The moral consequences, family issues, and chaos, and fittingly, as addicting as the drugs they produce.

House of Cards

With their $100 million production budget, this Political drama features a droll sense of humor,searing performances, slick writing, engrossing plot-lines, and Kevin Spacey chewing the face off the scenery.

Orange is the New Black

A prison dramedy portraying a combination of deeply human, funny, moving, realistic, progressive show about life and the bad decisions we’re all destined to make. OITNB follows several women in prison and humanizes the dehumanized, transforms labels — felons, thieves, murderers, embezzlers — into real human beings and reminds us that, even in prison, life isn’t put on hold.

Marco Polo

A show that combines a lot the violence, nudity, and drama of Game of Thrones in a binge-watching format, then Marco Polo is worth a look. The series recounts a dramatized version of the titular explorer’s time in Kublai Khan’s court, a brutal ruler whose character shines as both a leader in battle and a conflicted soul.

Grace and Frankie

This Netflix original comedy deals with Grace and Frankie shortly after they find out their husbands are gay fell in love with each other and plan to start their own life together. Now, the two divorcees (Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin) must figure out how to live in the same house and support each other without for one another’s throats.

Stranger Things

A newer favorite since it’s release in early July 2016, this show is set in 1980s Indiana and is an homage to 1980s pop culture, including among others the works of Steven Spielberg, John Carpenter, Stephen King, Rob Reiner and George Lucas. A young boy vanishes mysteriously, and a telekinetic girl appears, who helps the boy’s friends in their attempt to find him.

Penny Dreadful

The classic tales of Dracula, Frankenstein, Dorian Gray and more are woven together in this horror series set on the dark streets of Victorian London.

Peaky Blinders

Peaky Blinders is a gangster family epic set in Birmingham, England in 1919, just after the First World War. The story centers on the Romani Peaky Blinders gang and their ambitious and highly cunning boss Tommy Shelby (played by Cillian Murphy).

Bloodline

Bloodline is engrossing, so much so that somewhere along the way, you may end up wondering if you skipped an episode. You’ll start the season on episode 7, fall into a trance, and wake up somewhere around episode 10, wondering what happened to the last four hours of your life. It all begins when the black sheep of a respected family threaten to expose dark secrets from their past, sibling loyalties are put to the test.
